چکیده
In a study of artifact-free ventricular fibrillation episodes in 54 patients, 28 of whom experienced return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), the power of different indicators to predict the ROSC was compared. Taking the average of sensitivity, specificity and positive and negative predictive value, the dominant frequency reaches 76%, the mean amplitude 72% and fibrillation power 71%. There is little correlation between the three indicators.

Fibrillation power, an alternative method of ECG spectral analysis for prediction of countershock success in a porcine model of ventricular fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Noninvasive prediction of defibrillation success after cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) may help in determining the optimal time for a countershock, and thus increase the chance for survival. METHODS In a porcine model (n=25) of prolonged cardiac arrest, advanced cardiac life support was provided by administration of two or three doses of either vasopressin or...
متن کاملPrediction of countershock success in patients using the autoregressive spectral estimation.
OBJECTIVES Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is a life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia and within of minutes of its occurrence, optimal timing of countershock therapy is highly warranted to improve the chance of survival. This study was designed to investigate whether the autoregressive (AR) estimation technique was capable to reliably predict countershock success in VF cardiac arrest patients. ME...
متن کاملClinical Significance of P Wave Dispersion in Prediction of Atrial Fibrillation in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
Background: P wave dispersion (PWD) is defined as the difference between the maximum P wave duration (Pmax) and the minimum P wave duration (Pmin) in 12-leads of the surface electrocardiography. The aim of this study was to evaluate the values of PWD during atrial fibrillation (AF) after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: We prospectively evaluated atrial rhythms of 350 patients (251 m...
متن کاملVentricular Fibrillation Waveform Analysis during Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is the primary rhythm associated with cardiac arrest characterized as rapid, disorganized contractions of the heart with complex electrocardiogram (ECG) patterns. Recent studies have reported that performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedure prior to shock increases the survival rate especially especially when VF is untreated for more than 5 minutes. Th...
متن کاملLeft atrial appendage-flow velocity predicts cardioversion success in atrial fibrillation.
Restoration of sinus rhythm by electrical cardioversion is a therapeutic option in appropriately selected patients with atrial fibrillation. It is important to determine predictors of electrical cardioversion outcome in patients with atrial fibrillation. Predictive value of clinical and conventional echocardiographic parameters for predicting cardioversion outcome is limited. The role of left a...
